How to enter / Entry fees
General Information
We encourage online entries as it saves a lot of Angel admin time (and saves you money and time on event mornings). We require payment prior to event day and in the interest of a \’smart\’ event where processes are streamlined and efficient, we have a few rules for all entries so please make sure you read all the detailed information below.
Entry Fees- Per event
The basic entry fees are as follows (note there are discounted rates documented below):
Distance |
Individual |
Team |
| Novice | $30 | $30 |
| Short | $45 | $45 |
| Medium | $55 | $55 |
| Long | $65 | $65 |
Late fees
Late fees are a flat $10 on top of the prices stated above, and are applied automatically from 11:59pm on the Wednesday night before the relevant event (which means no amount of pleading or begging to the Angels will change this). Moral of story is to enter early and save money. For more information about the entry process – click on the relevant titles below to expand and read the information

Entering on the event weekend
Completing a ‘Late Entry’ at Registration (space dependent)
Late entries at Registration incur an extra $10 fee above the standard online entry fee
PLEASE NOTE:
- Late entries spots are not guaranteed. The event could have already reached capacity and therefore entries will be closed prior. Please check our website for updates. To be safe, we encourage early entries.
- Late entries are available on a first come first served basis at registrations
If you have not been entirely organised during the week, and decide on the Sunday that you would like to enter your day will go a little like this:
- You excitedly, get to the event nice an early (ie as soon after registration opens as possible – ie at 7:30am
- You cross your fingers and hope that there are late entry spots available (you prepare for the worst case scenario that there might not be…you will take the rejection like a man if you need to) – we will announce on the website on Friday night what the status is with late entries
- If there are late places available you will then \’jump for joy\’ and complete the late entry form
- You will now smile nicely to the Angels as you hand over your entry form and payment (cash or cheque only)
- The Angels will process your registration and approve your entry thus empowering you to enter the event. Oh the power! You \’jump for joy\’ again
Additional registration Notes:
- Online entries close at 6:00pm on the Friday before each event, but
- From 11:59pm on the Wednesday before each event the late fee applies to all entry options
- Late entries are $10 more per event than the basic online entry price
- The fields may sell out before the close off times stated above, to ensure your place we encourage you to enter early
- You can enter:
- as an individual (doing the whole duathlon), or as a team (of two or three, each doing a different part)
Refund Policies for Event entries:
In case of injury or illness only, you have two options available for you to choose from:
- Up to seven days before the event: We will refund your entry fee less $15 admin fee if you inform us in writing (i.e via email). After this date no refunds will be given, however;
- Up to 6pm on the Friday night before the event, we can transfer your entry to a later event in the series (if there is a later event) if you inform us in writing (i.e via email).
There are no refunds or transfer of entry after 6pm on the Friday before the event.
Transferring entries between individuals:
Participants are not allowed to transfer their entry to another person. Anyone found racing under another persons name will not be allowed to enter any further Scorching Events. This is a Health and Safety issue.
Possibility of event cancellation:
Should the event be canceled or modified due to dangerous weather conditions (as determined by the Race Director) no refunds will be given. This decision is at the complete discretion of the Race Director and is made in the best interest of all participants health and safety. We thank you in advance for your understanding. Note: Since May 2003, the Scorching Events (now at 60+ events) have only been fully cancelled twice. Both events were in the winter Duathlon series and were cancelled due to extreme winds and rain. We have modified the running of three Triathlons (rain and wind combination and due to Council resealing roads) for participant safety. All decisions are made in the best interests of you the participant.
Scorcher Minimum Ages
We have a minimum age requirement for each of the event options. This is in place due to Health & Safety reasons and must be adhered to by all participants. Anyone found not adhering to the age restrictions will not be invited to participate in future events. Angels take these things seriously. The minimum age varies depending on the course distance, and are as follows:
- For the novice course the minimum age of all participants is 10 years old (as at the event date)
- For the short course the minimum age of all participants is 10 years old (as at the event date)
- For the medium course the minimum age of all participants is 13 years old (as at the event date)
- For the long course the minimum age of all participants is 16 years old (as at the event date)
